John Mellencamp is a class act!
Carlene Carter, a beautiful woman with a wonderful voice, was a breath of Spring air. I thoroughly enjoyed her. After a short intermission, the band took the stage followed by John Craigie, who started with a mixture of songs from the new album, Plain Spoken, and some of his hits. The talented woman playing the violin impressed me. As the night went on, John would take time to talk to the crowd about things he has learned over the years, which in turn comes out in his music. He was on stage alone at one point, started playing his guitar, and went into Jack and Diane. The crowd took over the singing, but about half of the audience messed up and went into the chorus before the second verse. John stopped playing, threw his hands up in the air, and all he could say was, "Really???" I thought I was going to pee myself from laughing so hard. He is so laid back and real that he doesn't take offense to his fans messing up on his songs. The songs got bigger and better as the concert progressed. Dancing, singing, and watching him during my favorite song, Cherry Bomb, made me feel like I was in heaven. Next time, I will get the expensive Platinum seating ticket. Thank you, John, for not disappointing your fans and being yourself. Thank you.
